Quick Answer

The Silverback VKS suppressor does not come with foam. You install it yourself using the VKS Silencer Foam Kit. Here's the full step by step for the full size suppressor, what tools you need, and a dust cover tip.

What You Need

  • Full size suppressor: 2 VKS Silencer Foam Kits
  • Half size suppressor: 1 VKS Silencer Foam Kit
  • Needle nose pliers — for the initial cap screw unscrew
  • Punch tool — only needed if doing the dust cover flip
  • Wrench — for removing the orange tip on US versions

Step 1 — US Version: Remove The Orange Tip First

If you purchased your VKS from the US it ships with an orange tip. You need to remove it before installing foam.

  1. Take apart the receivers and pull out the barrel
  2. Clamp the orange tip and twist — it will come off
  3. Use a wrench if needed — apply steady pressure and it will release

Step 2 — Open The Suppressor Cap

The suppressor cap is held by three screws. Use needle nose pliers to break them loose — approach from the side or top like a fork. Once loose, finish by hand.

Step 3 — Install The Foam

The VKS Silencer Foam Kit comes in two sizes — small and large. Alternate them: big, small, big, small. Keep alternating until the suppressor is filled.

Step 4 — Close The Cap

Push the cap back down firmly. Screw the three screws back in — ⚠️ hand tight only. Do NOT overtighten or you will crack the suppressor.

Bonus — Dust Cover Tip

Flipping the dust cover arm down disconnects it from the bolt and closes the ejection port — seals the system against dirt, mud, and sand in heavy ops environments. The bolt still cycles normally with the port closed.

Important: The grinding sound at the rear is the cylinder on the receiver — not the dust cover. Flipping it does not eliminate that sound.

How to flip:

  1. Remove the magazine
  2. Remove body pins with a punch tool — long pin to the front
  3. Separate upper and lower receivers
  4. Remove internal mechanisms to access the dust cover
  5. Flip the dust cover arm down
  6. Reassemble in reverse — gun must be in fire position before reinserting internals
  7. Reinsert pins — long pin to the front

Full size — 2 VKS Silencer Foam Kits. Half size — 1 VKS Silencer Foam Kit.

Does foam come with the suppressor?
No — purchase the VKS Silencer Foam Kit separately.

Do I need to remove the orange tip first?
Yes for US versions. Take apart the receivers, pull out the barrel, clamp and twist the orange tip off.

How tight should the cap screws be?
Hand tight only — overtightening will crack the suppressor.

What is the dust cover flip?
