Quick Answer

The Silverback TAC-41L and TAC-41P have the same internals, the same cylinder, the same trigger, the same magazine system, and the same upgrade path. The difference is external — barrel length, stock design, and features. Here's exactly what's different and which one is right for you.

The Biggest Difference — Barrel Length

This is where it starts.

TAC-41L — 330mm barrel. L is for light. Smaller, more compact package overall.

TAC-41P — 510mm barrel. 180mm more barrel out of the box. More length means more BB stabilization at range once the gun is broken in and the hop-up is dialed.

If you're planning to upgrade the inner barrel anyway — and you should — this difference matters less. But out of the box the P gives you more barrel to work with.

What's The Same On Both

This is important to understand before making a decision. Both guns share:

  • 6061 T6 aluminum cylinder — 41cc volume. Hence TAC-41.
  • Same two-stage adjustable trigger — stainless steel, same pull and reset
  • Same magazine system — 48 round short mag included, 110 round long mag compatible on both
  • Same two springs in the box — 90N pre-installed, 120N included free
  • Same receiver material — PA6 nylon fiberglass reinforced polymer
  • Same upgrade path — every Stalker upgrade part fits both guns
  • Same internal performance — same cylinder, same piston, same air volume

The choice between L and P is not a performance choice. It's an external and ergonomic choice.

The TAC-41P — What You Get

The P gives you a traditional bolt action sniper rifle feel. Longer, heavier, more fully featured stock.

External features:

  • 510mm outer barrel — traditional sniper rifle profile
  • Full polymer stock — classic bolt action feel
  • Adjustable rising cheek rest — raises and lowers for scope height
  • Tool compartment inside the cheek rest — tools stored in the gun. Read the manual to find it.
  • Adjustable extendable stock — spacers for different lengths of pull
  • More M-LOK real estate — sides and bottom for accessories
  • QD sling mounts
  • Tripod mount built into the stock — the L does not have this

Who it's for:

  • Bigger players who want a full-size platform
  • Players coming from real steel bolt guns — the ergonomics feel immediately familiar
  • Players who hold position and want a traditional sniper rifle profile
  • Players who want the most stock features out of the box

The TAC-41L — What You Get

The L is more compact, lighter, and more modern in profile. Same guts, smaller package.

External features:

  • 330mm outer barrel — compact profile
  • Rail stock — modern tactical look, pistol grip style
  • Rail stock is fully removable — swap to different adapters or remove for storage
  • 3 M-LOK slots on the sides
  • Two sling points — one on each side
  • Lower price tag than the P

Who it's for:

  • Budget-conscious players — lower price, same upgrade path, same performance potential
  • Players who move between positions — lighter and more compact
  • Players running full kit — chest rig, plate carrier, backpack
  • Players who want a modern tactical look over a traditional sniper profile
  • M4 players who want a compatible stock feel — the rail stock accepts M4 buffer tube adapters

Do The Spring Upgrade First — On Either Gun

Both guns ship with a 90N spring pre-installed and a 120N spring in the box. Upgrade to the 120N immediately. It's the single best power, accuracy, and range improvement you can make at zero additional cost.

Beyond that, a full range of Joule-rated APS springs are available at skirmshopusa.com — from 1J to 5J. Match exactly to your field's Joule limit.

Go With The Long Magazine

Both guns come with a 48 round short magazine. We highly recommend upgrading to the 110 round long magazine from day one. More capacity, better feeding reliability, and it looks significantly better on both platforms.

The Decision Guide

Buy the L if:

  • Budget is your biggest constraint — same upgrade path, lower price tag
  • You want a compact, lightweight platform
  • You run a lot of kit and want to reduce carry weight
  • You prefer a modern tactical aesthetic
  • You want stock swappability via the rail system

Buy the P if:

  • Budget isn't a concern and you want the most features out of the box
  • You're a bigger player and want a full-size platform
  • You want a traditional bolt action sniper feel
  • You hold position rather than moving between spots
  • You want a tripod mount built in

Either way: If you're planning to upgrade the hop-up, inner barrel, and piston — which you should — the end result is the same gun. Same cylinder, same upgrade path, same performance ceiling. The L just gets you there for less money.

FAQ

Are the internals the same?
Yes — same cylinder, same piston, same trigger, same magazine system, same upgrade path. The difference is entirely external.

Which one is more accurate out of the box?
Neither — same internals means same accuracy potential. Break in the hop-up on either gun by running 50 rounds through it before drawing conclusions.

Why does the P shoot lower FPS out of the box?
The 510mm barrel creates more friction on a fresh gun. FPS climbs after break-in. It's not a performance difference — it's a break-in difference.

Can I use the same magazines on both?
Yes — the 48 round short mag and the 110 round long mag both fit either gun.

Can I put the same upgrades on both?
Yes — every Stalker TAC-41 upgrade part fits both the L and the P.

Which one should a beginner buy?
The L — lower price tag, same upgrade path, same performance ceiling. Get into the platform for less and upgrade from there.
