If you’ve ever wondered whether a foam suppressor on your airsoft gun is worth it — this video dives deep into exactly that. In “Airsoft Suppressed vs Unsuppressed,” Skirmshop USA puts a foam suppressor head-to-head against its unsuppressed counterpart to see whether the suppressor does what people expect.
🔬 What We Tested
- Two configurations: one airsoft gun equipped with a foam suppressor, the other without (unsuppressed).
- We also added in a 3 Prong Flash Hider to the HPA airsoft guns.
- Comparison focused on concealment - Sound
- Realistic in-field style setup so you can judge for yourself whether a suppressor changes the experience enough to matter.

📊 What We Learned
- The suppressor noticeably changes the sound output — making shots quieter (or at least muffled) compared to unsuppressed firing.
- Using the 3 Prong Flash Hider - the sound output was more directional adding a little more sound.
- Visual differences: suppressor provides length giving a longer travel time; unsuppressed feels more traditional, with more shorter length during CQB.
- Tradeoffs are clear: while the suppressor offers a stealthier experience, unsuppressed may deliver more of a lightweight and high speed set up.
💡 Who This Matters For
| If you value... | Consider... |
|---|---|
| -Stealth, subtlety, low-noise play | -Going with a foam suppressor — good for indoor arenas or stealth-based games. |
| -Less weight and length | -Stick unsuppressed — it's more raw and traditional. |
| -Versatility (sometimes silent, sometimes loud) | -Maybe experiment with both — see which suits your scenario or style. |
✅ Final Thoughts from Skirmshop USA
The video plainly shows that there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. A foam suppressor can be a valuable tool in certain airsoft situations — especially if stealth or low noise is a priority. On the other hand, unsuppressed setups deliver a more “classic” airsoft feel, which many players still appreciate.
If you’re considering a foam suppressor, weigh what matters most for your games: silence and subtlety — or power and presence.
